چکیده

Training for both sporting and military performance is common practice within army trainee populations, although it currently unknown what effect this combination of training methods may have on the physical attributes required overall preparedness. This study examined effects sport-specific general fitness in a professional population. Four hundred twenty-three Greek male cadets completed 12-week regimen involving standard (callisthenics, strength endurance running exercises) either (GMT) or sport (SMT). A series tests took place before after period: mile run, pull-ups, 50 m swim an obstacle course run. Both GMT SMT groups showed significant (p < 0.001) improvements all tests. However, group produced significantly greater four (pull-ups [p 0.001], 0.05], 0.01] run 0.01]) compared to group. Furthermore, different types (e.g. rock climbing track sprinting) achieved 0.001–0.01) certain when other forms Pankration, Fencing). These results indicate that undertaking concurrent participation are better prepared than their counterparts who undertake only training. Military conditioning personnel should be aware positive interplay between sports specific forming preparation strategy designed performance.

Incidence of injury and physical performance adaptations during military training.

OBJECTIVE Strenuous physical activity, such as military training, is known to demand a high degree of physical performance and to cause overuse injuries. However, the exact relation between injury incidence and physical fitness level and the influence of military training on measures of functional performance, such as intermittent endurance capacity and maximal jump performance, are not fully d...

Physical performance assessment in military service members.

Few established measures allow effective quantification of physical performance in severely injured service members. We sought to establish preliminary normative data in 180 healthy, active-duty service members for physical performance measures that can be readily implemented in a clinical setting. Interrater and test-retest reliability and minimal detectable change (MDC) values were also deter...

Physical training injuries and interventions for military recruits.

Low physical fitness levels are associated with increased musculoskeletal injury risk and attrition among military recruits. The authors review physical fitness trends, injury risk factors, and Department of the Army initiatives to address recruit fitness, injuries, and attrition. Initiatives include the Fitness Assessment Program, which reduced injury risk and attrition among low-fit trainees,...
